This romantic villa has an enchanting garden area, a dual-level aquamarine pool and an idyllic balcony. Surrounded by a manicured lawn, lots of tropical palm trees and plants, the poolside area has a decking space with sunbeds. There are also more sun loungers and umbrellas along one side of the pool. The exteriors of the property are white, with a thatched roof that adds to the Thai island-style charm.
There are picturesque ‘walls’ within the pool that separate the shallow and deeper areas, while the tropical garden islands add a heightened element of greenery to the stunning pool. Small huts with matching thatched roofs dot the enviable outside space – breathe in the fresh air and soak up the dreamy, romantic atmosphere.
As this private villa is part of a resort, guests really get the best of both worlds. Guests enjoy their own pool and space but can easily access the amenities around the resort such as the fitness centre and spa. There’s also a fantastic communal pool with sea views and two levels, and many international and local dining options.
For all your beverage requirements, there is a minibar and drinks station with coffee and tea. There is plenty of space for an alfresco meal on the terrace – alternatively enjoy a drink on the balcony, which faces the lush garden.
Inside, there is a single elegant bedroom with an oversized bed, designed for a perfect night’s sleep. Decorated in tonal beige and white with matching blankets, above the bed is a statement carved panel with a leaf design. Distressed wood features heavily in the design, and there is a vintage style dresser on one side.
A flatscreen television is mounted on the wall, perfect for evening relaxation. There’s a lattice bamboo screen that separates the ensuite bathroom from the room. In the stylish bathroom, there is an exquisitely carved stone sink, a mosaic framed mirror and a refreshing shower. The fitness centre is kitted out with state of the art equipment and lots of floor space for workouts. There’s an elliptical, treadmill and suspension machine that guests can use, as well as free weights. Outside, the foliage is beautiful so guests can enjoy great views even while they are exercising. Additional pieces like exercise balls are available, and bicycle rentals are perfect for getting around the resort and beyond.
Swim in the luxurious, dual-level resort pool that curves gently around the resort in an interesting curved design and look out at the incredible sea views.
On-site, there is a tasty range of dining options on-site that span across Asian, Mediterranean and Western food. There is a plethora of casual dining and cafes around the resort, including the Genesis restaurant which serves health-conscious salads and snacks, as well as freshly grilled seafood.
Enjoy afternoon tea with a selection of Thai sweets and cakes at the Deli Cafe. An indulgent and intimate choice would be the bespoke beach picnic package. At the Genesis restaurant, enjoy all-day poolside dining with healthy salads and freshly grilled seafood. There’s a beach bar which also serves casual dining options like sandwiches and tasty desserts. However, it’s most famous for its outstanding sunset cocktails with amazing views. A truly special option is the Chef on the Move, where guests can enjoy surprise dishes on outdoor poolside picnic tables.
The gorgeous beaches are arguably the main draw of this region – a few minutes from the resort is mesmerising Khao Lak South Beach, which is tucked between the mountains and the gorgeous turquoise sea. For a more buzzing atmosphere, head to Bang Niang beach which has excellent snorkelling and swimming because of the crystalline water. Sunsets are particularly striking at this beachhead to one of the beach bars to watch the skylight on fire when you’ve finished enjoying the beach, head to Bang Niang night market.
Khao Lak has a museum that pays tribute to the people who died in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami of 2004. This small museum displays photographs and stories, as well as a local police boat. Khao Lak was one of the areas hit hardest by this tsunami and tourism here helps to support local people and their livelihoods.
If you are still keen to explore Thai island life, Khao Lak is the perfect jumping-off point to visit the nearby Surin or Similan islands.
