Enter through a gorgeous archway and take in the amazing garden surroundings and sea views.The turquoise pool has swim-up views and snakes around a manicured lawn with lots of trees and plants. Descend the curved Roman style steps into the glittering turquoise pool for a relaxing dip. Palm trees sway in the garden, and a quirky wooden seahorse sculpture decorates the terrace.
Natural materials feature heavily in the design, such as the traditional thatched roof, wood and bamboo, and the exteriors give the illusion of a hand-finished beach house. Elegant curved archways add a Mediterranean feel to the villa.
The villa boasts superb attention to detail in the interior design. The living room has a huge curved cream sofa that stretches along the wall, with a flatscreen television for downtime. There’s a kitchenette and drinks station, featuring a minibar and coffee machine. Elegant pendant lighting hangs from the ceiling, while striking carved floral wood art adorns the wall.
Designed as miniature suites, the two bedrooms are cosy yet intimate. Both are decorated in neutral tones with crisp white walls and taupe floor to ceiling drapes that flutter at the windows. Wake up to dazzling views and plenty of natural light – in the master suite, you can step straight out onto the balcony in the morning. The double beds are designed to facilitate a great night’s sleep and are equipped with plenty of plush cushions.
The balcony has a pair of stylish rattan armchairs, a polished oval coffee table and gorgeous poolside views. It’s the perfect spot for an afternoon cocktail. The thatched roof provides some shade from the tropical sunshine.
There are a hessian-style wooden wardrobe, distressed wood bedside tables and a small writing desk. Above the bed is an intricate latticework wooden panel that acts like a screen for the ensuite, which has stunning carved natural stone sinks. There is also an alfresco freestanding bathtub surrounded by plants and trees, for a truly back to nature experience. Lounge around in luxurious bathrobes and soak up the dreamy atmosphere.Seamlessly woven into the Andaman coastline, this villa is perfect for those who like to get away from it all. The fitness centre is well equipped with a range of gym equipment and plenty of floor space. Choose from suspension machines, steppers, treadmills or the elliptical. The gym is draped with greenery and foliage, so gym-goers can enjoy the scenery while working out. Additional pieces like exercise balls are available, and bicycle rentals are perfect for getting around the resort and beyond.
At the spa, guests can indulge in a relaxing full body or foot massage or other spa therapies like a herbal petal bath. The dreamy setting is like a luxurious wooden tent with a thatched roof. Couples massage packages are also available. Swim in the luxurious, dual-level resort pool that snakes around the resort in an interesting curved design and look out to the glittering sea.
In terms of dining, there is a range of Asian, Western and Mediterranean options. The Genesis restaurant has all-day poolside dining with healthy salads and international snacks or fresh grilled seafood. There’s a beach bar with superb sunset cocktails, which also serves casual dining options like sandwiches and tasty desserts. The most unique option is the Chef on the Move, where guests can enjoy surprise dishes on outdoor picnic tables by the pool.
Khao Lak is a great choice for a peaceful holiday in the south of Thailand. Quieter than Phuket, which is just one hour south and two hours from Krabi to the east, Khao Lak has the mesmerising beaches and relaxed vibes of its more popular counterparts without the crowds. It also has the convenience of being on the mainland, easily accessed by road and by plane from either Krabi or Phuket.
The white sand beaches are the main attraction in this region – the best beaches near the resort are Khao Lak South Beach, which is tucked between the mountains and the gorgeous turquoise sea. Peaceful and pretty, it’s just a few minutes away from the resort. For a more lively atmosphere, head to Bang Niang beach which has fantastic swimming and snorkelling thanks to the crystalline water. Sunsets are particularly beautiful here – head to one of the beach bars for a front-row seat.
A visit to the tsunami museum in Bang Niang is also a humbling way to pay tribute to the lives lost on Boxing Day 2004. Khao Lak was one of the areas hit hardest by the tsunami and tourism here helps to support local livelihoods. This small museum displays photographs and stories, as well as a local police boat.
Khao Lak is the perfect jumping-off point to visit the nearby Surin or Similan islands, both of which offer some of the best scuba diving in the world. Go river rafting and spot some exotic fish on a snorkelling trip. On the Surin islands, you might spot wild dolphins, sea turtles or reef sharks.
