Maison Des Maures France
Holiday Home Rental Description
This lovely holiday home with stunning sea views is found on a hillside near Sainte-Maxime, beautifully positioned between the Mediterranean and the wooded hills of Massif Des Maures, just over 2km from the closest sandy beach.
As well as a fabulous location, Maison Des Maures has recently been completely refurbished and enjoys air-conditioning and a swimming pool. A spacious and elegant south-west facing terrace with an al-fresco covered dining area enjoys views across the forested hills towards the glistening Mediterranean – comfortable lounge furniture and a glass of local wine await you after your swim.
As tempting as it might be to while away the time on this rather spectacular terrace, the interior of this charming villa is also spacious, comfortable and beautifully furnished, making the most of the superb views with panoramic doors and windows. The large open-plan kitchen, dining and living area is light and bright and this theme continues into to the pretty bedrooms, one of which has doors leading out to the terrace and swimming pool.
When you are ready to travel further afield, head to Sainte-Maxime with its sandy beaches, turquoise waters, charming restaurants and paved alleyways. Hop on a ferry across the gulf to vibrant and glitzy Saint-Tropez and gaze at expensive yachts moored side by side with fishing boats in the characterful town harbour.
Drive eastwards towards historic Fréjus and lively Saint-Raphaël and, while you are here, don’t miss Plage d’Agay with views of the red rocks of the Esterel Massif – Tintin lovers might even take an evening boat trip across towards Île d’Or. There are also many idyllic villages to visit in the Maures Massif such as Collobrières and La Garde-Freinet as well as great biking, hiking and horse riding trails.
There are many other inland adventures to lure you away from the coast including the nature reserve Plaine des Maures and the dramatic Esterel Massif with yet more trails for active holiday makers. Wherever you decide to spend your days, you are sure to enjoy returning to your beautiful hillside holiday home and sea view. In the Côte d’Azur region of south-eastern France, between the Mediterranean and the wooded hills of Massif des Maures, Maison des Maures is located on a hill just over a 2km drive from a pretty beach, restaurant and small supermarket.
Further along the coast, passing the little port, there are further amenities and a handful of restaurants as well as summer watersport opportunities such as jet-ski, pedaloes and other water based activities.
Sainte-Maxime (8km), on the northern side of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, was once described as Saint-Tropez’s “quieter little sister”. It is indeed a picturesque patch of paradise with its long beaches, turquoise waters, small restaurants and paved alleys. Join a boat or parasailing tour to admire, from the water, the beauty of the Les Maures mountain range and the red rocks of the Esterel or take a tour to taste some of the famous rosé wines.
While you are here, you just have to take the ferry across the gulf to glamorous Saint-Tropez, busier and more sophisticated than Sainte-Maxime. Stroll past expensive boutiques, pretty painted fishermen’s cottages, fine restaurants and visit the old port where the fishing boats are moored near extravagant yachts.
Take the half hour drive to Fréjus, a lovely town with coloured houses and Roman ruins or head further eastwards to Saint-Raphaël, a lively seaside resort tucked away beneath the forested hills of the Maures Massif. Don’t miss the beautiful Plage d’Agay which has fantastic views of the Esterel massif and is a great place for families with beach volleyball, kids club and water sports. Here you can kayak round the bay or Tintin lovers might take an evening boat trip across towards Île d’Or.
As well the joys of the beach and azure sea, this is a fantastic area for inland exploration and there are superb landscapes to explore within driving distance. Here you are on the edge of the mountain range of the Maures Massif, situated between Fréjus and Hyères with Provence to the north and the Mediterranean to the south. There are some idyllic villages to visit within this mountain and forest landscape such as medieval Grimaud, peaceful Collobrières and fortified La Garde Freinet.
The Plaine des Maures is a unique nature reserve north-west of Sainte-Maxime, renowned for its pines, cork trees and rare tortoises. It is often compared to the African savannah and has many trails for walking, cycling and horse riding.
North eastwards from Fréjus lies charming Les-Adrets-de-Lesterel in the Esterel Massif. From here is a panoramic view of the Riviera stretching from Nice to Saint-Tropez. This is yet more fantastic walking country with paths leading to the lake of Saint-Cassien with its bathing beaches and welcome snack bars.
