The smaller island of Gozo provides a quiet and calm alternative to its neighbouring Malta, with sparkling seas and plenty of cultural highlights to explore.  Just a short twenty-minute drive away is the best snorkelling spot on the island found at Wied il-Ghasri, a coastal charm with a river of seawater finishing up at a small shingle beach, access to the water is via a staircase hacked into the rock.  A scenic walk can be enjoyed here along the valley or if you are looking for captivating views why not head to Tal Merzuq Hill.  

Gozo’s fortified capital Victoria offers a wealth of historical interest, local museums and excellent markets to explore and discover.  The towering St. George’s Basilica in the centre of Victoria is well worth a visit with the Cathedral Museum just down the street holding over 2000 displays of paintings, archives and clerical vestments.  Pick up a heritage tour that will take you through the striking works of art, architecture and spots of intrigue such as The Old Prison located by the Courts of Justice.  A market runs from Independence Square every day with a range of stalls, be sure to grab a local pastizz, a delicious local savoury pastry.
