Tre Catoni is snuggled in the countryside, near to the town of Scicli, on the south coast of the Italian island of Sicily. The nearest international airport is in Comiso, just forty kilometres away, or Catania, a one hundred and forty-kilometre drive through scenic olive groves and vineyards to your holiday home. The UNESCO World Heritage site of the old town of Scicli is known for its beautiful Baroque architecture, historical churches, and a nature reserve with canyons, lakes, and archaeological ruins. Here you will also find shops and stores with provisions for your stay and lots of welcoming cafes, bars, and restaurants serving traditional Sicilian dishes. Sampieri is the nearest beach, a five-minute drive from the villa, renowned for its golden sand and crystal clear waters that are perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Further down the coast is Donnalucata, with a mix of sandy and rocky stretches, where you can practice your water sports skills. Hike or bike the local trails to discover the flora and fauna, or improve your service at the nearby tennis club.
Visit the nearby towns of Modica and Ragusa, where you can sample the culinary delights of Sicilian cooking, local wines, and its famous chocolate.
Go further afield to see the archaeological wonders of the Valley of the Temples at Agrigento, the Greek theatre and limestone caves of Syracuse, and the Doric temples at Selinunte. In the evening, feast off local seafood by the shores of the must-see town of Marina di Ragusa. The villa is set in natural reserve, a park with free-roaming wildlife and other free-living animals such as donkeys (which are not dangerous) and cats. Safely fenced-in at a certain distance are the owners’ horses, and at the boundary of the property, there is also an aviary. It is recommended, out of respect for nature and the reserve itself, that the various gates be closed at all times.
