Your home for the duration of your stay is part of the Wymara resort on the island of Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands. On your doorstep sits Grace Bay Beach, which is somewhat famed, perhaps even legendary, for its beautiful white sands and crystal-clear waters. In fact, it’s ranked as one of the world’s most impressive beaches and offers opportunities to relax, snorkel, swim, sunbathe or participate in adrenaline-infused water sports. On site, there’s plenty to do, whether you want to swim in the pool, try the local dishes, relax at the beach, work out at the gym or have a decadent spa treatment. But there’s plenty to do beyond too.
Nearby you’ll find Coral Gardens Reef, which forms part of the Princess Alexandra National Park, a breathtaking area which offers amazing opportunities to dive and snorkel. There are a variety of stunning coral formations to see here, gorgeous tropical marine life, and beautiful waters. Truly, this is a water baby’s idea of paradise.
If you prefer keeping your feet on dry land, you can enjoy the Provo Golf Club, also nearby. The club boasts an 18-hole golf course and makes for a challenging game regardless of skill level. With such picturesque surroundings, it also makes for an enchanting day.
Further, still from the water, you can enjoy Bight Park. Enjoy a picnic, talk a leisurely stroll and visit the playgrounds. Are restaurants and shopping more your style? Graceway Plaza has it all, from quaint cafes for a coffee, restaurants featuring all kinds of fare, boutique shopping excursions and a grocery store where you can stock up on quality produce.
If you don’t mind travelling out a bit further, the pleasantly named Turtle Cove Marina is a great place to charter a boat, fish and enjoy water sports and tends to draw aficionados of boating and sailing.
The island of Providenciales offers so much more too. For instance, you might want to take in the lagoon permeated with islands and mangroves that is Chalk Sound National Park. The best way to explore this enchanting area is by kayak or paddleboard, which can both be rented.
If you’re new to snorkelling or diving, Coral Gardens and Smith’s Reef both offer plenty of opportunities to explore the world beneath the water.
Conch is a local delicacy used in many meals on the island. A visit to Conch Farm will allow you to learn more about the conch and how they became so integral to the cuisine.
If you’re in season, you can enjoy whale watching from January to April as the whales begin their migration. You might also want to take in the history and culture of the island with a visit to Cockburn Town on Grand Turk – a great opportunity to learn about the indigenous Lucayan people.
