Situated in a quiet residential street just a short walk from the sea, Villa Rubicon Blanca is ideally placed to enjoy leisurely days in the sun and make the most of Lanzarote’s southern coast.
There are plenty of local amenities nearby, making it easy to purchase groceries to enjoy back at the villa, or wander down to the Marina Rubicon where you can enjoy delicious plates of freshly grilled fish or seafood at one of the waterfront restaurants. Located in a sheltered bay, the marina is a popular mooring point, and you can stroll between the rows of yachts or watch the fishing boats return with their daily catch. A variety of water-sports are offered by local companies, inviting you to take a boat trip or paddle out to explore the coast on a kayaking tour. There is also the opportunity to try your hand at diving, with the local centre offering both lessons and guides, and just 300m from the shore you can discover the incredible artificial reef formed by a set of sculptures by artist Jason de Caires Taylor.
For those looking to spend the day at the beach there are several options nearby. Located beside the marina, Playa Dorada boats a long stretch of golden sand inviting you to stroll along the shore or take a dip in the crystal clear water. Further along, Playa Blanca is another great spot for spending a day in the sun, and from here you can follow the Paseo Maritimo along the coast to soak up the laid-back atmosphere and enjoy ocean views. Most of the beaches have good facilities, and there are plenty of ‘chiringuitos’ where you can enjoy a lunchtime snack or tasty ice cream.
Slightly further away, the well-known Playas de Papagayo is definitely worth a visit, and you can reach it by car or opt for a more relaxing trip and take an adventure around the coast on a catamaran. The natural park is composed of 5 separate beaches, each offering an idyllic setting to relax on the sand and gaze out to sea. There are no amenities so be sure to pack a picnic if you plan to spend the day.
Numerous beaches and hidden coves dot Lanzarote’s coastline or you can take a boat trip across to one of the neighboring islands to explore the rocky shores. Alternatively, head inland to discover the dramatic volcanic landscape. Just 20 minutes by car, the incredible Timanfaya National Park offers a unique experience, with its rugged terrain and fascinating array of colours. Take a guided walk to discover the rugged rock forms and spot some native wildlife or visit the Montañas del Fuego to learn about the volcanoes which last erupted in 1824. For sports enthusiasts the extensive landscape is perfect for runners and hikers, whilst the winding car-less roads are a bikers paradise.
