Emerald lodge is a quaint, 18th Century lodge hidden away on the banks Lough Hyne, with wonderful views of the island and out to sea beyond.
The ground floor is an open plan living room with a large fireplace, a dining area, a kitchenette and a spiral staircase leading to a twin bedroom overlooking the lough, a single bedroom and a bathroom with basin, W.C, bath and shower.

Kayaking is a fascinating and satisfying way to explore the creeks and inlets of the beautiful West Cork coastline. The area is well known to yachtsmen and even complete novices can experience the pleasures of sailing here on one of the skippered charter yachts, while the unique geography of the area makes it equally suitable for powerboat enthusiasts. Whale and wildlife watching is another major attraction, thanks to the numbers of whales, dolphins and other marine animals that pass close inshore off this corner of West Cork.
Those who prefer to stay on dry land can still find plenty of things to do. There is freshwater fishing on nearby rivers and lakes, an 18-hole golf course just up the road and other fine courses within comfortable reach. The beauty of the West Cork coast and countryside make this popular walking country and a paradise for amateur painters and photographers.
Although Baltimore itself has none, there are several magnificent unspoilt sandy beaches in the area, including the islands. And if you want to keep in shape without leaving the village there is a fully equipped leisure centre and indoor pool in Baltimore itself.
While some pursuits involve a bit of physical exertion, others merely require you to soak up the beauty of the surroundings or gaze in awe at some of the wonders of nature.
