Villa Pistache France
Holiday Home Rental Description
Villa Pistache is delightful and a great pick for families or friends wanting to explore the French Riviera. Just 5km from the wonderful Antibes, 7km from the blissful sandy beach at Juan-les-Pins and within easy reach of the sparkle of Cannes, guests enjoy a totally relaxing stay at this wonderful villa. It comes with modern interiors, including three bedrooms, an open-plan living space, and a wonderful garden with a pool and fabulous alfresco dining and lounge spaces. Antibes sits proudly in an area that has greatly inspired the likes of Picasso, Matisse and Miro. With its buzzing port where luxury yachts mingle with colourful fishing boats, its 16th-century ramparts and its narrow cobbled lanes draped in colourful flowers, it will quickly steal your heart. You will quickly realise why writers and artists came flooding this pretty town and enjoy visiting the Picasso Museum in memory of him. The modern part of town now stretches along the riviera, and beyond the city limits, you can explore the stunning Cap d’Antibes, a lush wooded cape sprinkled with seaside mansions and beautiful walking trails. Just along the coast is the playground for the rich and famous Cannes, the host city of the annual Cannes Film Festival, Midem and the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Villa Pistache enjoys a wonderfully bright and airy open-plan living space. Its chef’s dream of a kitchen is modern and well-equipped. It is a very sociable space with an island, breakfast bar and stools where you can open a bottle of rose, take a perch and keep the chef company. The dining area is beautifully illuminated on two sides with floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading to the terrace, pool and garden. A beautiful light sits above the ornate circular table and chairs and two vintage sideboards sit against the walls. This leads through to the living area with its squishy sofa and chairs and equally large opening to the terrace. It comes with a television, DVD player and sound system. Also found on the ground floor is a study area, shower room, utility room with a small sauna facility and a double bedroom. With coolness in mind, the floors are all tiled, and all three bedrooms enjoy air conditioning. Upstairs, you will discover another two double bedrooms, one with a good quality fold-out bed. There is also a family bathroom with a bath and handheld shower, and a separate toilet. The garden is beautiful, brimming with a lush lawn, palms and other trees, a fountain and colourful borders. The covered dining terrace is lovely for barbecues which can be cooked on the built-in barbecue. There is also a delightful shaded lounge area, a sun-drenched terrace and a table tennis table for some family fun. Also at your disposal is the heatable swimming pool, with a poolside shower and gazebo. You will feel right at home in the delightful Villa Pistache. Antibes is a wonderful destination, brimming with a maze of narrow streets, ancient buildings, flowers, museums, a traditional market, cafes, bars and restaurants. The likes of Graham Greene, Max Ernst and Picasso adored this area, with Picasso featuring the town in many of his paintings. Antibes sits on the French Riviera between Cannes and Nice, adjacent to Juan-les-Pins, which is on the other side of the Cap d’Antibes peninsula.
With a long list of special ingredients, Antibes is a place to enjoy a good meal, relax and watch the boats, stop for a coffee, visit a museum or shop in the designer shops and boutiques. The historic centre is still surrounded by the defensive ramparts built by Vauban. The Cathedral of Notre-Dame-de-Platea has origins in the 12th century but has mostly been rebuilt. Its highlights include its 18th-century doors, a magnificent altarpiece and other artefacts which date back to the 15th century. Many of the town’s small squares are surrounded by ancient houses and traditional fountains, making it very picturesque. The covered market is an excellent and fun way to buy local produce as well as hand-crafted artisan items. The town also boasts some wonderful gardens, including the botanical gardens of Villa Thuret, the sea view gardens of Eilenroc Villa and the fabulous Explora Park.
The Picasso Museum is a must-visit in the Grimaldi Castle. Picasso lived in the Antibes-Juan-Les-Pins area for most of his life and had a studio in Grimaldi Castle for a few months after World War II. As well as more than fifty works by Picasso, the museum has a wonderful collection of works by other modern artists popular around the middle of the 20th century, such as Joan Miro and Max Ernst.
As well as enjoying the coast, you should explore the nine perched villages of the Pays de Fayence, including Montauroux with its Tuesday morning market and artisan craft studios, Fayence with its lovely restaurants, cafes and twice-weekly Farmer’s market and idyllic Seillans, classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. You can take a drive along the winding roads up to Mons, one of the highest villages in the Var department, with incredible panoramic mountain and sea views. Lac de Saint-Cassien is a lovely spot for long hikes, horse-riding, picnics on lakeside beaches and summer watersports, as well as fishing. Those seeking other natural landscapes for outdoor activities should escape to the oak and pine forests covering so much of this area. You will discover many gorges, waterfalls and stone bridges along the Siagne river, as well as fabulous cycling trails, bird-spotting opportunities and rock climbing. Further afield, you can spend the day canoeing, white-water rafting or just admiring the amazing vistas when visiting the Verdon Gorge.
The impressive city of Cannes is also a must-see with its glitzy bars and boutiques, famous boulevards, La Croisette, atmospheric markets, sandy beaches and boat trips, including ferries out to the beautiful Lerins Islands.
