Wat Phra Khao Yai is the Big Budda Hill in South Pattaya. The Buddha is the biggest in the region at 18 metres tall. Positioned nearly 100 metres above sea level, the Budda watches over Jomtien and Pattaya Beaches. Visitors will be enthralled by the colourful temple complex all around the golden Buddha. There are many bells, burning incense and numerous statues creating a reflective ambience. The site is an active temple.
The Sanctuary of Truth sits on the headland to the north of Wongamat Beach. It is an astonishing sanctuary to a philosophical truth which tells the importance of religion, philosophy and art have played in development. The 105-metre tall teak structure is very intricate with carvings of elephants, people and scenes, creatures and deities from mythology. Khao Pattaya View Point on Pratumnak Hill offers the best viewpoint in the area. You will get an Instagrammable shot of Pattaya’s sweeping bay. The scenery is stunning by day or night with the twinkly lights. You can negotiate with a songtaew (baht bus) to take you there and back.
You must not forget to visit the colourful and lively Pattaya Floating Market at Jomtien. Vendors sell souvenirs, fruits, food, art, postcards, handicrafts and clothing from charming little shops and from their boats. There are regular cultural shows, and demonstrations and food stands offer many authentic Thai dishes including noodle soups, pad thai, kanom jean, curry and other specialities.
