It’s impossible not to be wowed by the amount of space on offer at this FiDi loft – at nearly 1,000 square feet, it’s downright massive for two people, so there’s more than enough room to make yourself at home. Secondly, the kitchen is the stuff of dreams – not only is there an island that can comfortably fit ten people, but it has everything you’ll need to rustle up mouthwatering meals. And, of course, there’s the industrial-chic design. This pad has a zen and cosy vibe that we appreciate, with an abundance of plants, lots of natural wood and a soothing colour palette. The 120-year old original wooden beams hark back to the loft’s former days as a button factory, and the cushy leather couch is the perfect antidote to an afternoon spent wandering around the city. The neighbourhood is also interesting and unexpected – this is a section of FiDi that is truly residential and surprisingly private, where the buildings aren’t quite as tall as the skyscrapers nearby. You’ll get a real sense of old Manhattan wandering down the cobblestone streets, and with the restaurants and bars along South Street Seaport just a few minute’s walk, you’ll have plenty to do on your doorstep. It’s a bit of a hike to the nearest subway station – eight minutes on foot – but we think it’s worth it as this loft is something special.
