Lofts, townhouses and apartments from the West Village to the Upper East Side, and across the river in Brooklyn
As featured in
A hotel room in New York shows you the city from a corridor. An apartment puts you on a real street, with a deli on the corner, a coffee you come to think of as yours and a doorman who remembers your name by Wednesday. That is the New York most visitors never quite reach, and the one most worth having.
Our New York collection runs to 240+ properties across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. They range from cast-iron lofts in SoHo and NoHo and brownstone townhouses to high-floor apartments in Midtown with views of the skyline, and quiet family apartments on the Upper East Side. Some have roof terraces, and a few have their own spa facilities.
Choosing a neighbourhood matters more here than almost anywhere else, so we start with that.

Below 14th Street the grid gives up, and Manhattan becomes a muddle of crooked streets that is far nicer to walk. The West Village is all tree-lined brownstones and small restaurants, and Greenwich Village gathers around the marble arch of Washington Square Park.
SoHo and NoHo are known for their cast-iron buildings, many of them old warehouses turned into lofts with high ceilings and tall windows. Tribeca is quieter and more grown-up, and Nolita and the Lower East Side add more good tables. The High Line, a park laid out along an old freight railway above the streets, runs north from the Whitney Museum through Chelsea.

The Upper East Side is the classic choice for families and first visits. Central Park is on one side, and the Metropolitan Museum, the Guggenheim and the Neue Galerie line Fifth Avenue's Museum Mile. Yorkville, further east, is more relaxed, and Sutton Place is a quiet residential pocket above the East River, a few blocks north of the United Nations.
Gramercy Park is built around a private garden square that only keyholders may enter. Midtown, Times Square and Hell's Kitchen are noisier, but you can walk to the Broadway theatres and be back home before the curtain-call crowds have found a taxi.

Many New Yorkers would tell you the city's best evenings now happen in Brooklyn. Williamsburg has bars, restaurants, Domino Park on the waterfront and the Smorgasburg food market on summer weekends. Greenpoint, next door, has a long Polish history and a slower pace.
Bedford-Stuyvesant and Clinton Hill, home to the Pratt Institute, are streets of handsome brownstones with more room for your money. In Queens, Long Island City looks straight back at the Manhattan skyline and has MoMA PS1, and Midtown is a short subway ride away.

New York eats very well at every price. A bagel in the morning and a slice of pizza on the hoof are part of the education, and so is pastrami on rye at Katz's Delicatessen on Houston Street, where they have been carving it since the nineteenth century.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons, with mild days for walking and Central Park at its best. The marathon runs in early November. July and August are hot and humid, and January can be bitterly cold. From late November the great Christmas tree at Rockefeller Plaza, the shop windows and the skating rinks make December busy and very festive. Our concierge can book restaurant tables, theatre tickets and airport transfers.

In New York two streets can feel like two cities, and we know which apartments are quiet at night, which sit close to the park and which put you within walking distance of the theatres. With 240+ properties in New York, we can usually find the house that suits you rather than the one that happens to be free. Search by size, pool, location and price, or tell us what you have in mind and we will put together a shortlist.
You book with us directly, with no booking fees. Questions about access, parking, pool heating or how far it really is to the nearest beach go to people who can find out the answer.
Restaurant reservations, Broadway tickets, museum tours, babysitters, helicopter flights over the skyline and airport transfers from JFK and Newark. Our concierge team arranges all of it, leaving you free to decide which terrace to sit on.
Couples, families with small children, three generations together or a crowd of friends celebrating a birthday: we match the house to the group, down to the number of bathrooms and whether the pool is fenced.
For a first visit, the Upper East Side is calm and close to Central Park and the big museums, and Midtown is handy for the theatres. The West Village, SoHo and Tribeca are the places for restaurants and street life. Williamsburg suits repeat visitors who want to see Brooklyn.
April to June and September to November bring the most comfortable weather for walking the city. December is busy and festive. July and August are hot and humid, and January and February are cold, though often quieter.
Most visitors walk and take the subway, which runs around the clock and reaches every neighbourhood we cover. Yellow cabs and ride-hailing apps fill the gaps, and the ferries along the East River are a pleasant way to get between Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.

These are guide prices based on current listings; each property page shows its own rates for your dates.
Flights from London land at JFK in Queens or at Newark in New Jersey, and both take around an hour to central Manhattan, depending on traffic. Our concierge can arrange a car to meet you.
