Hilton Head Island is known for its miles of beautiful beaches, marina filled with expensive yachts and fantastic golf courses, so the most stressful thing you’ll do all day is decide which way to relax first. This home is part of the island’s original development, but was completely remodelled a few years ago to bring it bang up to date. There are traditional Southern touches – think wood floors, shutters, vaulted ceilings, and even the odd chandelier – along with a high-end kitchen, luxury bathrooms and a fabulous social space. Of the three bedrooms, one comes with flexible sleeping arrangements, so groups of up to ten can call this lovely place home for a while. Outside there’s a deck where you can barbecue in the evenings and sit around the fire, and the garden backs onto the golf course. Head into Harbour Town on foot (or use the complimentary trolley service) for shops, oceanfront dining and more.

* Although it’s technically aimed at groups of six, there are enough beds to sleep ten at a squeeze
* The eagled-eyed will have spotted the beds in the third bedroom are bunk-beds, each with a double bed below (although not ideal for two as someone will be up against a wall) and a single above (although possibly not suitable for children as there’s no safety barrier)
* You may end up fighting over the master bedroom as its en-suite won a bathroom remodelling award a few years ago
