The ground-floor bedrooms are well within earshot of the gentle lapping of the waves at the shore, while upstairs, the east-facing living room benefits from that golden glow of early morning light. The marine theme continues in the kitchen, where porthole windows provide a glimpse at the contents of the cupboards while there’s space for eight around the whitewashed dining table. Finally, the top-floor snug makes for a secluded hideaway for anyone seeking solace by the Solent.
The beach essentially disappears at high tide – however, the sound of the sea accompanying your alfresco family feast makes for a tranquil atmosphere. At the same time, the ceramic egg barbecue helps to elevate your grilling to the next level.
For those looking to explore the island, we’d suggest hiking sections of the Isle of Wight Coastal Path. A little under 10 miles south, you’ll find the spectacular natural beauty of Shanklin Chine, the oldest tourist attraction on the island. From Shanklin, the 4-mile walk to Ventnor is among the most picturesque parts of the trail. Closer to home, history and heritage buffs will appreciate Nunwell House and Gardens, a little over fifteen minutes away.
