Outside there’s a town garden with a sunny patio for those morning coffees, and a glass-fronted balcony off the master bedroom that looks out over the countryside. Take the 5-minute drive into town for arcades and fish and chips or cross the bridge to the medieval streets of the East Bank and Whitby Abbey. If you’ve brought the dog, strap on the hiking boots and get out into the North York Moors National Park. It’s called ‘God’s Own Country’ for a reason.
