You can even take the public lift from the top of the cliff and back up again, saving you a walk. Five minutes in the other direction has you in the buzzing heart of Whitby’s harbour, where fishing boats bob in the water and award-winning fish and chips can be eaten by the sea.
This apartment is a joy to return to, with an open, social kitchen dining and living room. Throw open the French doors to the little sit-outery at the back. This is a real bonus in the heart of Whitby, with a table and chairs providing a spot for cocktails or morning coffee in the courtyard-style space. It’s nice to get a sense of your seaside locale, even when you’re inside, with ships and sails displayed on the walls. The master bedroom with its wooden floor, big bay window and tufted headboard is particularly plush.
