It feels like your own oasis of calm as you wander down the elegant steps to your private swimming pool and jacuzzi, surrounded by such a verdant garden with towering trees and splashes of Mediterranean colour. The pool house features a designer summer kitchen, after all this is the standard you will come to expect at this splendid holiday home. The decked summer terrace is wonderful for early evening aperitifs or cocktails by the pool.
Inside, the air-conditioned interiors are just as impressive with ample living space across its lounges, dining areas and its perfectly equipped kitchen which leads out to a lovely terrace. The main living and dining room on the first floor is especially striking with its historic paintings, fascinating features and French windows looking out over the treetops towards the bay of Cannes. There are also sea-views from some of the eight inviting bedrooms and bathrooms, each one lovingly decorated and stylishly furnished.
Wander down to the end of the domaine where there is a clay tennis court that guests can use, shared with other nearby residences, or continue further towards the centre of Cannes. Within ten to fifteen minutes you could be strolling along La Croisette, relaxing on one of Cannes’ many beaches or dipping your toes in the sparkling sea.
Explore the steep lanes of the enchanting historic quarter, discover vibrant markets and dine out in high-end restaurants. Take a boat excursion out to one of the nearby islands or hire a yacht and skipper for a sunset cruise.
Antibes and Juan-Les-Pins are an easy drive away whilst Nice and Monaco can be reached within an hour by car. Or head inland to the hills of woodland and olive groves to visit the perfumeries of Grasse, Valbonne’s historic market or the flower-filled lanes of Mougins.
Then there’s the golfing, cycling and hiking so close to Cannes – beyond the glamour of the Côte d’Azur, there is so much natural beauty of this alluring region to discover. In a private domaine, surrounded by other wonderful residences, Villa Excalibur can be found just a ten-minute walk from the centre of Cannes.
Just walk down the lane to the bottom of the domaine and there is a shared clay tennis court that guests may use. Wander further, passing a handful of restaurants, a bakery and near a supermarket, and you will soon be in the heart of Cannes with its glitz, glamour and charm.
Miramar Plage, backed by the famous La Croisette boulevard, is only 1.2km away, a beautiful spot with beach clubs, public areas and stunning views out towards the bay. Wander a little further to the impressive old port, then explore the enchanting lanes of the historic quarter, Le Suquet, with the most wonderful vistas the higher you climb.
Visit the enticing Marché Forville or Marché Gambetta to pick up all sorts of delights as well as the catch of the day alongside locally grown fruit and vegetables. Shopaholics will also enjoy visiting the many upmarket boutiques, characterful shops and even malls that can be found across the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods.
For the more active guests, there is a vast range of watersports across various beaches in Cannes offering kite-surfing, yachting, catamarans and sea-kayaking amongst many more. Boat trips also depart from the marina, either sightseeing excursions along the French Riviera coastline or ferries across to the beautiful Lérins Islands.
Further alluring spots along the coast include Antibes with its characterful old town and impressive marina as well as Juan-Les-Pins, a lively resort with fantastic beaches and watersports. Keen hikers and mountain bike enthusiasts should head west to Massif de l’Esterel whether discovering idyllic perched villages or stunning coastal trails.
Cannes’ hinterland is also delightful with lovely hilltop villages such as Mougins, Biot and Opio or visit the historic town of Valbonne with its wonderful weekly market on a Friday morning. Learn all about the aromas of the region in France’s perfume capital, Grasse, another idyllic day out passing woodland and olive groves as you drive into the hills.
Nice and even Monaco are also exceptional days out or follow the winding roads towards Vence and neighbouring St Paul de Vence, around forty minutes away, a paradise for art lovers with Matisse’s La Chapelle du Rosaire and the highly regarded Fondation Maeght.
