With eye-catching interiors and sweeping mountain views, Villa Tabasco is located a short distance from Palm-Mar on the south-western coast of Tenerife. With beaches as close as 2km and the vast Parque Nacional del Teide a short drive north, this charming 3-bedroom villa provides the perfect introduction to this corner of the island.
Fringed by palm trees and open space, the pool area and garden are among the highlights of this beautiful property. You will have sole use of the 6m x 2m pool, which has sun loungers lined up alongside it for your relaxation. A covered dining and seating area looking out on the large lawn is a particularly nice place to sit or enjoy a meal together.
Inside, the house has been tastefully decorated, with modern furnishings complemented by some antique pieces and décor. The living room offers a comfortable environment as well as satellite TV. From here, you can walk straight through to the elegant dining area, and a kitchen with direct access to the garden offers all the appliances you should need.
The property has three double bedrooms which can be used as twins, as well as three bathrooms – two of these have a bathtub. Among other facilities are parking, a washing machine and Wi-Fi.
Palm-Mar is a pretty town, and somewhat hidden away in the south-west of the island. With Mount Guaza never far away, the tranquil town has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops to keep you busy, and it’s a pleasure to walk along the promenade as the waves of the Atlantic crash in.
A little further north, you could also visit Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas, both of which have plenty going on. However, it’s the Teide National Park – the huge green lung of the island – which is the big draw for nature-lovers. It’s only a 20-minute drive from Palm-Mar to its southern fringes – the perfect start to a long and rewarding hike.Palm-Mar is considered one of Tenerife’s hidden gems. A nature reserve, rocky beach looking out on the Atlantic and a peaceful character make it a pleasant place to escape to. Large enough to offer quite a few shops, restaurants and bars of its own – many offering some lovely local cuisine – it’s within each reach of the Teide National Park and the resorts of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos which lie a little further north.
Playa de las Americas is a haven for water-sports, beach life and nightlife, and has some good family attractions too. The Thai-themed water park, Siam Park, is perhaps a little more imaginative than most, while dolphin and whale watching is sure to enchant both children and adults.
Once a small fishing town, Los Cristianos is now a popular resort with beautiful golden sands and a promenade full of good eateries. It’s also not a bad place to shop, with all sorts of interesting boutiques, and cafés to keep you going in between.
For all the fun to be had at the resorts, it’s the natural beauty that keeps people coming back to Tenerife. Hiking in the rugged Anaga Mountains comes highly recommended – a trail leading you from the Mercedes Forest to Punta del Hidalgo on the northern coast shows you a completely different side of the island.
The National Park’s 10-mile-wide volcanic crater dominates central Tenerife, with mighty Mount Teide reaching a peak of over 12,000 feet.
