Rent House Blue-Violet Tulip Sherman Oaks
Holiday Home Rental Description
We love our job, and walking around this knockout home in Sherman Oaks you’ll soon see why. With glass walls, vaulted ceilings and perfect styling, it’s impossible not to fall in love with the place. Ticking off wishlists for fans of mid-century modern architecture, this 1958 home with its rare, hyperbolic roof design was built by acclaimed architect Richard Dorman FAIA, who featured on the cover of Life Magazine’s “The Take-Over Generation” issue in 1962, already having won ten national awards by age 39.
Inside, an eclectic mix of vintage furniture, designer classics, wall art and colourful glassware comes together in interiors that wouldn’t look out of place in a magazine – and indeed, it’s been a cover star in its time. There’s an open layout to the living space, with a double-sided open fireplace for cosy winter stays, and a fully equipped kitchen. A large en-suite bedroom and a separate shower room have an authentic, period look to them and you can slide open the doors to step straight outside from your bed each morning.
And it’s out here that things get really special. From its deck, you can see across the city and the canyon to the mountains. Surrounded by incredible views and sitting among trees, you’re likely to spot some of the local wildlife – bluejays, hummingbirds and maybe even redtail hawks and deer. The zen garden is the ideal spot for yoga practice (a mat is provided) and there’s a barbecue grill so you can cook and eat outside.
This also happens to be one of the best, and friendliest, neighbourhoods in LA, with excellent access to all the big attractions. Situated on the southern edge of Sherman Oaks adjacent to Bel Air, just off the famed Mulholland Drive, it’s only a three-minute drive to the nearest bars and restaurants, a five-minute drive to the Getty Museum, fifteen minutes to Universal Studios, and the beach at Santa Monica less than a half-hour drive away.
