Step through the gate of this La Quinta hideaway and you’ll find a sunny patio, sparkling pool with a waterfall, and a relaxing Jacuzzi – and this is all before you reach the front door. While it’s a little unconventional to have the pool at the front of the house, something about it works here. Once you head inside, you’ll see the southwestern influence doesn’t end with the Spanish Revival architecture. Everywhere you look there’s a nod to the region, from cow skulls and woven hats to traditional Santa Fe style beams. In both the living area and the master bedroom, there are French doors that lead onto a second patio where you can eat alfresco. Although the address is perfectly peaceful in and of itself, the amount happening in the local area means that you’re likely to venture out at some point. it’s right near the San Jacinto Mountains, with multiple trailheads a short ride away. Prefer a slower pace? There are six golf courses at PGA West, which is only seven minutes away in the car. Likewise, La Quinta Old Town, with its array of shops and restaurants, is just a five-minute drive.
