If you’re looking for utter escape, this Palm Springs home with 180-degree views of the San Jacinto mountains and rugged desert is it. Set just below Bob Hope’s iconic architecturally designed curved home, there’s just one other neighbour nearby – unless you want to count the coyotes, cottontail rabbits and lizards, of course. Inside this elegant whitewashed clapboard home, floor-to-ceiling frame that incredible vista. The lounge is centred around a gas fireplace and flat-screen TV, and when it’s dark and you can’t look out the window anymore, there’s a Wii to keep you entertained. The master bedroom comes with a sumptuous bathtub in the en-suite and a vast walk-in closet, but it’s the fourth bedroom that we think is particularly special. In a separate guest house with a glass wall, it makes the most of those you’ve got gorgeous views. Head outdoors at night and soak up the magical atmosphere, courtesy of the fairylights twinkling in the shimmering pool. There’s a gas grill and outdoor dining for eight, and a boules court runs down the side of the house. Light up the fire pit to keep the desert chill at bay, and gaze up at the stars from the canopy day bed.
