With its high ceilings, bright interiors and modern amenities, Napier Podocarp is a trustworthy choice for a group of travellers. It’s not the most soulful home in our collection, but it has a light balcony with backyard views that’s nice for enjoying a cup of coffee. Charlottenburg isn’t as lively as Kreuzberg or Mitte, but you’re a short ride from the beautiful Charlottenburg Palace and all of its glory.

* There’s no communal area separate to the dining table in the kitchen
* The immediate neighbourhood isn’t lively, but you’re a bus ride from the centre of Charlottenburg
* Tall people beware – both showers are quite low at 175 cm and 190 cm
* There aren’t any low-voltage sockets in the bathrooms, so you’ll have to charge your electric toothbrush elsewhere
* The walls could do with a lick of paint
* The balcony can only be accessed from one of the bedrooms
* There are not enough seats for all guests to sit together on the balcony
