Built in 1926, the castle part of this home is Hollywood quirkiness at its finest with round beds tucked into nooks and crannies, and arched, medieval doorways leading to light-filled living rooms. If sleeping in a turret isn’t your thing, the second half of the compound is in a modern house, with its own huge kitchen and five of the bedrooms. The jewel in the tiara here is the rooftop terrace – a higgledy-piggledy space of secret hot tubs sets it wooden decking (there are two), circular day beds fit for a princess, a shaded dining area and glass atriums connecting the turret bedroom. Surveying your kingdom from the lookout amidst the crenulations, you’ll see you’re a five-minute drive from the boutiques and restaurants of Hollywood Boulevard, and a ten-minute drive up the hill to the iconic Hollywood sign.
