This funky three-bedroom home boasts a truly wonderful location close to both the Ciutat Vella and the golden shores of Barceloneta Beach in an area known as Eixample Dret – one of Barcelona’s hippest neighbourhoods known for its narrow streets lined with historical monuments, sites of cultural significance, great restaurants, cafés, and bustling bars – not to mention shops and plenty of atmospheric laneways to peruse. So, let’s get exploring!
The Eixample Dret neighbourhood of Barcelona is known as one of the city’s coolest – and that is some feat in a city as funky as the Catalan capital! Its narrow streets are bursting with life and house an incredible variety of cafés, restaurants, and tapas bars to satisfy all your food cravings. The range of flavours is truly staggering, mixing international influences with robust local favourites.
If you’re a fan of tapas, then you’re in luck! For Example, Dret has some top-notch tapas options where you can feast on mouth-watering Mediterranean and Spanish dishes that showcase the essence and fresh produce of the region. Soak up the laid-back, local vibes, dive into the rich Catalan culture, and savour delicious bites accompanied by the best Spanish wines or a pitcher of chilled Sangria. Que bueno!
You will also find yourself within easy reach of many of the city’s other iconic neighbourhoods. Spend the day meandering through the Gothic Quarter, take in the wonderful cacophony of sights and sounds that animate La Rambla, or peruse vibrant Port Vell: a bustling marina and waterfront area where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the promenade lined by high-end restaurants and admire the luxurious yachts. Throughout this part of the city, you can’t help but stumble upon ornate buildings and emblematic monuments, such as those in the Barrio Gótico, El Raval, Plaza Catalunya and the Paseo de Gracia, to name but a few.
History buffs and culture vultures may well rejoice, as a veritable plethora of art galleries, museums, and architectural wonders – including those designed by Gaudi – is littered around these historic areas. One of our favourites is the Museu d’Història de Barcelona (MUHBA), which is just a short distance from the home and showcases the city’s rich past through archaeological artefacts and interactive exhibits.
Alternatively, why not immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting one of Barcelona’s food markets, including the Barceloneta neighbourhood and the Boqueria Market along La Rambla? These vibrant markets offer an array of fresh produce, seafood, and loads of local delicacies. Browse through the stalls, sample some tasty treats, and experience the captivating atmosphere of a traditional Spanish market.
The nearby sandy beach at Barceloneta offers many activities, from sunbathing and swimming to beach volleyball and water sports, ensuring endless entertainment for just about everyone. So, whether you’re hoping to spend your days being active beneath the Spanish sunshine or simply lapping up the atmosphere, Barceloneta Beach is the place to be on a sun-soaked summer afternoon. Also along this stretch of coastline is the Aquarium Barcelona, one of Europe’s largest aquariums, which provides the perfect family-friendly afternoon out.
The city’s excellent public transportation system makes it easy and convenient to explore further afield, including visiting iconic landmarks like the Sagrada Familia or Park Güell. Hence, no matter how long you stay in this multifaceted city, there is always something new to discover.
