Ski chalets in St Anton, Kitzbühel, Sölden and the Zillertal, with the warmest après in the Alps
As featured in
Austria does the ski holiday with more warmth than anywhere else in the Alps. Its resorts are real Tyrolean and Salzburg villages, with painted houses, onion-domed churches and mountain huts serving Kaiserschmarrn at lunch, and its après-ski is famous across the world. St Anton is the birthplace of modern ski technique, Kitzbühel hosts the most feared downhill race of the season, and the glaciers of Sölden and the Zillertal keep the season long.
Our Austria collection runs to 380+ chalets, villas and apartments, from catered ski chalets with saunas and spas to lakeside and mountain homes for the summer.
Here is a guide to the main resorts, with links to each.

St Anton am Arlberg is where Hannes Schneider developed the Arlberg technique in the 1920s, and it remains one of the great skiers' resorts, with steep, varied terrain and the famous après of the Mooserwirt and Krazy Kanguruh. It is linked to Lech, Zürs, Stuben and St Christoph in Ski Arlberg, the largest ski area in Austria.

Kitzbühel is a walled medieval town with a lively centre of cafés, boutiques and restaurants, and every January it hosts the Hahnenkamm races, whose downhill on the Streif is the most feared in the World Cup. Its ski area is broad and scenic, and it is one of the best-connected resorts in Austria, around an hour from Innsbruck and Salzburg.
Kitzbühel chalets

In the Zillertal, Mayrhofen offers big skiing, a lively village and the Hintertux Glacier at the head of the valley, while Sölden, in the Ötztal, has two glaciers, three viewing platforms above 3,000 metres and the opening race of the World Cup season each October. Both have excellent chalets and a long season.
Sölden chalets
Zell am See sits on a lake beneath the mountains, with the Kitzsteinhorn glacier above Kaprun close by, so you can ski in the morning and walk by the water in the afternoon. In summer, Austria's lakes, meadows and mountain trails make it as good a holiday as winter. Our concierge can arrange transfers, ski hire, lessons and lift passes.
