Wood and stone chalets at the very heart of Les 3 Vallées, with spas, chefs and ski-in ski-out access
As featured in
Méribel sits in the central valley of Les 3 Vallées, which makes it the natural base for skiing the whole area: Courchevel one way, Val Thorens and Les Menuires the other. It was founded in 1938 by a Scot, Peter Lindsay, and strict building rules have kept it a resort of wood and stone chalets ever since, which is why it looks so much prettier than most of its neighbours.
Our Méribel collection runs to 60+ chalets, from family chalets in Méribel Village to grand catered chalets on the piste in Méribel Centre and Mottaret, with indoor pools, hammams and cinema rooms.
Below is a guide to choosing where to stay, the skiing and the practicalities.

Chalet La Ravale | 6-Bedroom Chalet with Hot Tub in Meribel6 bedroomsMéribel Centre for restaurants and the busiest lifts, Méribel Village for a quieter hamlet with its own chairlift, Mottaret for altitude and ski-in convenience, and all of Les 3 Vallées within reach.

Méribel Centre, at around 1,450 metres, is the heart of the resort, with the main lifts, the shops and the liveliest restaurants and bars. Méribel Village, lower down, is a small, peaceful hamlet with its own chairlift into the ski area, and Mottaret, higher up the valley at around 1,750 metres, offers more snow-sure skiing and many ski-in ski-out chalets.
The resort's rules on traditional architecture mean that even the newest chalets are built in wood and stone, so wherever you stay the valley looks the part.

From Méribel you can ski to Courchevel, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, across Les 3 Vallées' roughly 600 kilometres of linked pistes. Méribel's own slopes are broad and varied, with long runs from the Saulire and Mont Vallon, and the valley hosted the women's alpine events at the 1992 Olympics.
In 2023 Méribel and Courchevel jointly hosted the Alpine World Ski Championships, which gives some idea of the standard of the slopes.

Méribel is perhaps the classic catered-chalet resort, with chefs, hosts and drivers looking after the house while you ski. Evenings run from fondue in a mountain hut to dinner in the chalet, with plenty of après in Méribel Centre for those with the energy.
The season normally runs from early December to mid April. Our concierge can arrange transfers, ski hire fitted in the chalet, private instructors, lift passes and childcare.
