Quinta da Magdalena Portugal
Holiday Home Rental Description
Located amongst the treetops of Cascais, just a short train ride from the vibrant heart of Lisbon, Quinta da Magdalena offers a fabulous retreat. Accommodating twelve guests this vast, three-storey villa blends stunning modern design with the elegance of traditional features, creating a delightful sequence of indoor and outdoor living areas.
The modern interventions bring to life the older features of this house, with vast glass windows allowing natural sunlight to stream in, enlivening the small details of the traditionally styled wooden panelling and rustic door frames. The main lounge is huge, with one end furnished to feel intimate and cosy, with sunken sofas, bookshelves and a large TV so you can curl up together and relax at the end of an evening. The rest of the room is more spacious and spread out, with prominent sofas, a small table and a wall of modern glass doors, that work to include the wrap around balcony within the same living space. The luscious green of the trees outside is reflected within the décor, with cushions, curtains, upholstered chairs and house plants all taking hints of inspiration from the beautiful colours of the outdoors. Double doors lead through to a relaxing dining room, with more tranquil views on offer.
Following further into the villa, there is a simple kitchen, equipped with all you need to cook your favourites, pulling inspiration from the remarkable Portuguese flavours. The balcony stretches across the entire floor, so at each moment you can step out into the sunlight, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere.
On the ground floor, an indoor heated swimming pool and a games room with a pool table are sure to provide a wealth of entertainment, whilst the upstairs living areas focus more the relaxation of your stay. Alongside the main living spaces, the first floor boasts two double bedrooms, one of which includes a small living room. The villa’s top floor includes two further double bedrooms, a twin room, the master suite and a winter garden. All of the bedrooms have their own en-suite bathrooms for your privacy.
The indoor tranquillity of Quinta da Magdalena is only complimented by the charm of the outdoors. On the exterior, a masonry barbecue and a wood stove are at your disposal, with the first-floor balcony offering ample outdoor dining space for your whole group.Quinta da Magdalena is located close to the charming centre of Cascais. Cascais is one of the most popular and most beautiful places to visit in the Lisbon region, found just an hour’s train ride from the vibrant city yet offering the best of city and beach life all in one place.
From the villa, you can reach both the beach and the historical centre on foot, strolling out your front door to investigate the winding streets, rooftop restaurants and sandy shores. Historically, Cascais was a summer retreat for the Portuguese nobility, so today the town offers an elegant combination of its renowned heritage, with all the expectations of the modern tourist blended in. The cobbled streets are pretty and unassuming, yet hidden in the nooks are lavish villas, fascinating museums and even an imposing fort. The centre is always buzzing with holiday atmosphere.
The beaches of Cascais are beautiful, surrounding the town so you can visit a different one each day. We would highly recommend walking down the promenade from Cascais to Estoril, enjoying the sea views and beach side atmosphere as you stroll, either walking back the same route or hopping on a train to take you home. The bordering beaches form part of the Portuguese Riviera, while to the north is the wild and untamed Serra de Sintra coastline, with its famous surfing beaches and dramatic cliff faces. For surfers of all levels, you can hop on the train to Carcavelos, halfway down the coast to Lisbon, hiring boards on the beachfront and heading in to test your balance.
Belém is another must-visit during your stay, located on the train line to Lisbon. Belém, unlike the city is filled with parks, tree-lined plazas and green open spaces. The Torre de Belém, Lisbon’s most famous and photographed monument sits in the open for you to admire. After, you can head into the ancient walls of the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, the greatest example of the Manueline style of architecture to explore. To tantalise your taste buds, you have to queue up at Fábrica Pastéis de Belém, the traditional home of the Portuguese custard tart!At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
