Apartments and townhouses between Sloane Square and the Thames, a short walk from the King's Road
As featured in
Chelsea has been a fashionable address since Sir Thomas More built his house by the river in the sixteenth century. Painters followed, and so did writers: Turner, Rossetti and Whistler all lived on Cheyne Walk, and Oscar Wilde and John Singer Sargent lived on Tite Street. In the 1960s the King's Road made the district famous for something else entirely, and it has never quite settled down since.
Our Chelsea collection runs to 80+ homes. Most are apartments in stucco terraces and mansion blocks around Sloane Square, Cadogan Square and Cheyne Walk, alongside townhouses with terraces, a few cottages on quiet side streets and flats near Lots Road with views of the Thames.
Here is a guide to the neighbourhood, what to do and when to come.

The King's Road was once Charles II's private road to Kew, and the public only got the use of it in the nineteenth century. Mary Quant opened her shop Bazaar here in 1955, and in the 1970s Vivienne Westwood's shop at the World's End end of the road helped launch punk. These days there are more interiors shops and cafés than revolutionaries.
Sloane Square is the hub, with the Peter Jones department store, the Royal Court Theatre and Cadogan Hall close by. Behind it, Duke of York Square holds a weekend food market and the Saatchi Gallery. Belgravia and Knightsbridge are a short walk east.

Cheyne Walk runs along the Thames, and nearly every other house on it has a famous former owner. Carlyle's House on Cheyne Row, where the historian Thomas Carlyle lived and wrote, is now looked after by the National Trust, and Chelsea Old Church still has its memorial to Thomas More.
Walk out over Albert Bridge, best seen lit up at night, and you are in Battersea Park, which is handy for children and dogs. Further west, the streets around Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour are quieter, with marina views and a little more room for the money.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea was founded by Charles II in 1682 for veteran soldiers, and Sir Christopher Wren designed its buildings. It is still home to the Chelsea Pensioners, whom you will see about the area in their scarlet coats. The National Army Museum stands next door.
Just along Royal Hospital Road, the Chelsea Physic Garden was founded by the Society of Apothecaries in 1673 and remains a walled garden of medicinal plants with a very civilised café. The museums of South Kensington are around fifteen minutes away on foot.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show fills the Royal Hospital grounds every May. In 2027 it runs from 18 to 22 May, and during show week the shops and pubs dress their fronts with flowers for Chelsea in Bloom. Apartments go quickly that week, so book early.
Spring and early summer are the best months for the garden squares and the river. December is a good time too, when the Sloane Square lights go up for Christmas shopping. Our concierge can book restaurant tables and theatre seats, find Flower Show tickets when they are available and arrange airport transfers.

Sloane Square is best for shops, theatre and quick links across London, and the streets around Cheyne Walk are quieter and closer to the river. The western end, near Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour, is calmer still and often has more space.
May and June are lovely, with the garden squares at their best and the Chelsea Flower Show in late May. December is good for Christmas shopping on the King's Road and around Sloane Square.
