Townhouses, family houses and rooftop terraces in Music City's liveliest neighbourhoods, from Germantown to Berry Hill
As featured in
Most people arrive in Nashville for the music and leave talking about the neighbourhoods. The Ryman and the honky-tonks of Lower Broadway are only the start. Beyond them are red-brick streets in Germantown, bungalows in Sylvan Park and the bars and kitchens of East Nashville, across the Cumberland River. The city and Davidson County merged their governments in 1963, which is why you will see it written as Nashville-Davidson.
Our Nashville collection runs to 34 properties, mostly modern townhouses and family houses, along with a few large apartments. Several have rooftop terraces with views of the skyline, and the biggest have up to 8 bedrooms, so a family or a group of friends can share one address instead of several hotel rooms.
Below we cover where to stay, where to hear live music and when to come.

House Gulch Nashville: Luxury 4-Bedroom House with Balcony – Nashville4 bedroomsGermantown and the Gulch put you within walking distance of downtown, East Nashville is best for independent restaurants and bars, and Sylvan Park, Edgehill and Berry Hill are quieter, more residential bases for families.

Germantown, just north of downtown, was laid out in the nineteenth century, and its brick houses now share the streets with some of the city's most talked-about restaurants. The Nashville Farmers' Market and the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park are right on the edge of the neighbourhood, so a Saturday morning here comes with very good coffee.
The Gulch, south of Broadway, was built on old railway land and is now all glass towers, boutiques and rooftop bars. It is also home to the Station Inn, the bluegrass club that makes a fine change from the louder honky-tonks.

Across the Cumberland River, East Nashville has the city's most independent streak. Five Points is the centre of things, with neighbourhood bars, vintage shops and kitchens where many of Nashville's better young chefs got started.
On the west side, Sylvan Park is quieter, with leafy streets named after American states and a good choice of family houses. Edgehill sits close to Music Row and the shops and cafés of 12 South. Berry Hill, a small city surrounded by Nashville, is full of recording studios, and in the evenings you may well hear somebody laying down a track as you walk past.

The Ryman Auditorium opened in 1892 as a gospel tabernacle and was home to the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. It is still the best room in town for a concert. Today the Opry, a radio show that has run since 1925, broadcasts from its own house out by the river, and an evening there tends to win over even the doubters.
The Country Music Hall of Fame deserves a whole morning, and RCA Studio B, where Elvis recorded, can be visited on a tour from there. For something more intimate, the Bluebird Cafe seats songwriters in the round and books up quickly, so reserve early.

Nashville hot chicken, fried and coated in cayenne paste, is the local test of nerve, and Prince's Hot Chicken Shack is usually credited with starting it. The other great tradition is the meat-and-three: one meat and three sides, served at counters where the queue moves faster than you expect.
Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons. Summers are hot and humid, and CMA Fest takes over downtown for four days in early June, so book well ahead if you plan to be there. Our concierge can arrange Opry and Ryman tickets, tables, a private chef and transfers.
