Orange blossom, flamenco and a very late supper

Seville is the Spain most people picture before they have been: orange trees in the squares, horse carriages clattering past the Cathedral, flamenco in Triana and dinner that rarely starts before ten. The capital of Andalusia sits on the Guadalquivir. Its Cathedral, Real Alcázar and Archivo de Indias together make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you can walk between all three in a few minutes.

Our Seville collection runs to 80+ properties. Most are apartments in the old centre, in Santa Cruz, El Arenal and Alfalfa, and several have rooftop pools, terraces or a spa. There are also a few larger townhouses, plus country estates beyond the city with private pools and their own grounds.

Here is where to stay, what to see and when to come.

Where to stay in Seville

Santa Cruz for whitewashed lanes beside the Alcázar, Alfalfa for tapas bars and a lively local feel, and El Arenal for the river, the bullring and the walk over to Triana.

Santa Cruz & Alfalfa

Lanes, patios and the city's best tapas

Santa Cruz, the old Jewish quarter, is a knot of narrow whitewashed lanes, tiled patios and small squares planted with orange trees, pressed right up against the walls of the Alcázar. It is the most atmospheric place to stay in Seville. It is also the busiest by day, though the crowds have mostly gone by the evening.

Just to the north, Alfalfa is where Sevillanos go out. There are tapas bars around the Plaza del Salvador, and the Casa de Pilatos, a Renaissance and Mudéjar palace, is a short walk away. So is the Metropol Parasol, the vast wooden canopy locals call Las Setas, the mushrooms.

El Arenal & Triana

The river, the bullring and the potters' quarter

El Arenal lies between the Cathedral and the Guadalquivir. It was once the busy riverfront of the port that traded with the Americas. Today it holds the Maestranza bullring and the Torre del Oro, a thirteenth-century Almohad watchtower on the riverbank. It is quieter than Santa Cruz in the evening and still central, which is why so many of our apartments are here.

Cross the Isabel II bridge and you are in Triana, the old quarter of potters, sailors and flamenco singers. Go for the ceramics workshops, the Mercado de Triana, and a drink on Calle Betis watching the sun go down over the old town.

The Monuments

A cathedral, a palace and a square built for show

Seville Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and holds the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Its bell tower, the Giralda, began life as the minaret of the Almohad mosque. It is climbed by a series of ramps rather than stairs, built wide enough for a rider on horseback.

Across the square, the Real Alcázar is a Mudéjar palace of tiled halls and walled gardens, and its upper rooms are still used by the Spanish royal family. Book tickets in advance. The Plaza de España, built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, is best seen late in the afternoon from a rowing boat on its canal. Córdoba is a short trip by high-speed train for a day at the Mezquita.

Food, Festivals & the Seasons

Spinach with chickpeas, manzanilla and the spring fair

Eating in Seville means tapas, standing at a bar: espinacas con garbanzos, fried fish, jamón ibérico. Wash it down with a cold glass of manzanilla from Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The bitter oranges that line the streets are no good for eating, which is why so many end up in British marmalade.

Spring is the high point. Semana Santa brings processions through the streets in Holy Week, and the Feria de Abril follows about two weeks after Easter. Both fill the city, so book early. Autumn is mild and lovely. In July and August temperatures often pass 40°C, so plan on a pool, a siesta and a late night. Our concierge can arrange guided tours, flamenco tables and transfers.

Why book your apartment in Seville with Excellence Luxury Villas

The right house, not the nearest one

Seville's old town is a maze where two streets can feel worlds apart, and we know which apartments are quiet at night, which have shade and a pool for August, and which are a short walk from the Alcázar. With 80+ properties in Seville, we can usually find the house that suits you rather than the one that happens to be free. Search by size, pool, location and price, or tell us what you have in mind and we will put together a shortlist.

Book direct

You book with us directly, with no booking fees. Questions about access, parking, pool heating or how far it really is to the nearest beach go to people who can find out the answer.

A concierge who knows the territory

Skip-the-queue tours of the Alcázar and Cathedral, flamenco tables in Triana, tapas tours, help planning around Semana Santa and the Feria, day trips to Córdoba and Jerez, and airport transfers. Our concierge team arranges all of it, leaving you free to decide which terrace to sit on.

A house for every kind of party

Couples, families with small children, three generations together or a crowd of friends celebrating a birthday: we match the house to the group, down to the number of bathrooms and whether the pool is fenced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the best area to stay in Seville?

Santa Cruz is the most atmospheric, right beside the Alcázar and the Cathedral. Alfalfa is livelier and more local, with the best concentration of tapas bars. El Arenal is central but a little calmer, close to the river and an easy walk from Triana.

When is the best time to visit Seville?

March to May and October to November are the most comfortable months, with warm days and the orange trees in blossom in spring. July and August are extremely hot, often above 40°C, so an apartment with a pool or rooftop terrace makes a real difference.

When are Semana Santa and the Feria de Abril?

Semana Santa is Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter Sunday, so it falls in March or April. The Feria de Abril usually starts about two weeks after Easter, and when Easter is late it can run into May. Both are the busiest times of the year in Seville, so book well ahead.

Can you arrange a private chef at a apartment in Seville?

Yes. Our concierge can arrange a private chef for a single dinner or your whole stay, along with cookery lessons, guided visits, transfers and restaurant reservations.

How much does a luxury propertie in Seville cost?

Across our 80+ properties in Seville, weekly rates typically range from £2,500 to £4,000, with the most affordable from around £2,100 a week and the largest estates well above. Prices depend on the size of the property, its location and the season, with July and August the most expensive. These are guide prices based on current listings; each property page shows its own rates for your dates.

How do I get to Seville from the UK?

Seville airport has direct flights from several UK airports and is around 20 minutes from the centre by road. From Madrid, the high-speed AVE train takes around two and a half hours. Our concierge can arrange private transfers.

Are there apartments in Seville for large groups?

Yes. Our Seville collection includes properties with up to 10 bedrooms. Tell us the size of your party and the occasion, and we will send a shortlist that suits it.
