Maison Bonsai France
Holiday Home Rental Description
With artistic St Paul de Vence close by and the beaches of the French Riviera so near, Maison Bonsai is a beautiful holiday home in a wonderful position for exploring the very best of the Côte d’Azur.
This spacious and elegant villa looks out towards Haut de Cagnes and you can even catch a glimpse of the sea. There’s a true sense of space across the light-filled lounge, open-plan kitchen and dining area with doors opening up to idyllic terraces and the glorious, landscaped garden. On the main floor, two inviting double bedrooms each feature their own shower room whilst upstairs a pretty double provides a sumptuous en suite bathroom.
Enjoy a quiet aperitif by the towering pine in the outdoor lounge, then gather beneath the shady tree for al-fresco meals by the summer kitchen. A little path and steps lead down to the swimming pool with ample room for poolside lounging in the sun, soaking up the beauty of the gorgeous Mediterranean garden.
Follow artists’ footsteps as you explore the enchanting village of St Paul de Vence, whether dining in Michelin starred La Colombe D’Or where Picasso and Matisse used to stay, or admiring the artwork at the renowned Fondation Maeght, home to a number of garden sculptures by Miró. It’s such a picturesque village with its medieval lanes, twice-weekly market and incredible French Riviera views from its historic ramparts.
The Côte d’Azur is also easily reached – within 5km you can be strolling down the beachside promenade in Cagnes sur Mer or head a little further to the likes of Juan-Les-Pins, Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Cannes with palm-fringed shores, watersports and boat trips. Nice and Monaco also await for the most fantastic day out.
Discover stunning coastal walks along Cap d’Antibes, follow hiking trails near Gourdon, ride horses near Villeneuve-Loubet or choose from a number of French Riviera golf courses – this part of southern France offers a wealth of experiences for everyone. Maison Bonsai is perfectly set between the artistic village of St Paul de Vence and the French Riviera beaches near Cagnes sur Mer, only a 10km drive from Nice Airport. In a partially residential area, perched St Paul de Vence is around 3km by car whilst a couple of supermarkets near La Colle sur Loup are also a short drive away.
Soak up the artistic ambience of beautiful St Paul de Vence (2.5km), home of two Michelin starred restaurants including La Colombe d’Or where Matisse and Picasso used to stay. Stroll around the medieval lanes, admire the wonderful views from the historic ramparts and pick up all sorts of delicious delights at the twice-weekly Farmer’s market. Look out for what modern art exhibitions may be taking place at the highly regarded Fondation Maeght, also home to garden sculptures by Joan Miró and found just on the edge of the village.
A little further north, Vence is also full of charm, another one of France’s most gorgeous towns again with medieval streets, atmospheric cafes, pretty squares and Matisse’s La Chapelle du Rosaire. Other picture-perfect places dotted across this region include Tourrettes-sur-Loup, Opio, the market town of Valbonne and historic Grasse, the perfume capital of France.
Heading towards the coast, Mougins and Biot are also stunning villages to visit or head further inland to explore the incredible landscapes around Le Bar sur Loup and Gourdon. Across this area it’s a paradise for walkers with olive trees, jasmine, roses, forests, rivers, waterfalls, rolling hills and rocky spurs. There are ample horse-riding and cycling opportunities too, not to mention a number of golf courses across the French Riviera.
The beaches of the Côte d’Azur await from Cagnes-sur-Mer (5km) with its attractive promenade and watersports to the palm-fringed shores of Cannes, via the sandy bays of Antibes and Juan-Les-Pins. Cap d’Antibes is ideal for coastal hikes, passing hidden coves and little bays. From Cannes or Antibes, hop on a ferry across to the peaceful Lérins Islands for a lovely day out away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland coast.
In the other direction, the grand city of Nice can be visited in a day or continue onwards and discover the beauty of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, home to the exclusive Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. Passing delightful seaside towns such as Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer, reach the perched village of Èze, home to yet another Michelin starred restaurant and extraordinary vistas, or spend time experiencing the glamour of Monaco, around 40 minutes by car.
