The Castle

Towerhouse Castle, the ancient seat of the Comerford clan, is a meticulously restored five-storey towerhouse standing 65 feet tall. Located just 8 km south of Kilkenny—the medieval capital of Ireland—it serves as the perfect base to explore the region’s rich culture, history, and vibrant activities.

Restored with authentic techniques and materials, the castle retains its timeless beauty while incorporating modern comforts. Its interiors are filled with character, offering:

• The Ground Floor: Once used for storage and refuge, this floor now boasts a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare a medieval feast with modern appliances. Outside, a secluded south-facing patio features a large fireplace for barbecues or open fires, complemented by elegant garden furniture.
• The Second Floor: This level includes a luxurious bridal suite with a grand four-poster bed, a charming smaller bedroom, and an opulent bathroom featuring a Victorian bath and modern amenities.
• The Third Floor: A magnificent double-height dining room, complete with a medieval stone fireplace and an enormous chandelier, can seat up to 12 guests. Adjacent is a bedroom with two comfortable beds, a light meal preparation kitchen, and an elegant shower room.
