La Pomme Bleue France

Luxury Villas
| 4 Bedrooms|

Rental Description

What a glorious house and garden to return to after a day at the beach, a forest hike or a visit to one of the nearby idyllic villages. It’s located very close to Mougins, a pretty medieval hilltop village dotted with the region’s iconic pine and olive and cypress trees and only a short drive from the excitement and glamour of Cannes with its wide stretches of wonderful coastline.
Cypresses surround La Pomme Bleue, reminding you that you have at last arrived in the French Riviera. The calm colours of the interior create a peaceful atmosphere and this beautifully renovated home is comfortably spacious with original features cleverly integrated into the striking modern design. The stone fireplace and characterful ceiling beams can be found in the open plan living and dining areas, contrasting so well with the curve of the stunning contemporary white stone staircase.
As well as a bedroom on the ground floor, there is plenty of space upstairs – two further elegant doubles and an impressive master bedroom can be found alongside a TV lounge which can be converted into a single room for a ninth guest, all with en suite bath or shower rooms. A doorway opens to outside steps leading to the garden and pool and there is also a picturesque upper terrace.
Outside are superbly landscaped gardens with manicured lawns, a covered dining terrace by a water feature, terraced beds of fragrant herbs, olives trees and a lovely view of hilltop Mougins peeping through the trees. The pool is in the midst of the various levels of this garden paradise with the nearby pomme bleue sculpture providing a touch of fun and quirkiness.
Pick up your breakfast croissants at the nearby boulangerie, then drive the short distance into Mougins for lunch at one of its gastronomic restaurants or browse in a few art galleries. When the sea beckons, make the short drive to Cannes where the iconic Boulevard de la Croisette curves around the coast with swathes of sandy beaches, towering luxury hotels and super yachts bobbing on the Mediterranean.
A ferry to the idyllic Lérins Islands is sure to provide tranquillity away from city bustle or you can simply drive eastwards along the coast road towards Juan Les Pins and Cap d’Antibes for more seaside fun and outstanding natural beauty.
There is also plenty to enjoy inland – a game of golf at one of the prestigious courses near Mougins, a hike in the pine forests, creating your own perfume in Grasse, relaxing at a pavement café in beautiful Valbonne or admiring the glassblowing in the pretty village of Biot. La Pomme Bleue can be found in a gated domaine just outside the gorgeous hilltop village of Mougins, a wonderful position for exploring Cannes and all that the Côte d’Azur and its hinterland has to offer. A local boulangerie and cafe is just a short stroll away, as is a small handful of places to eat, whilst a larger supermarket can be found within a 5-minute drive.
Mougins is around 1.5km away (up the hill), a beautiful medieval village in the Valmasque forest between Cannes and Grasse with a hilltop setting and wonderful views southwards towards the Baie de Cannes and northwards towards Grasse and the Pre-Alpes.
The village attracts art lovers and gastronomers as its florally decorated ancient streets have many restaurants, art galleries and museums. Picasso stayed here for the last years of his life in the priory next to Notre Dame de Vie Chapel.
Mougins and the surrounding area is also renowned for its golf courses, including the exclusive Par 71 6,000 metres Cannes Mougins Golf Club (around 2km away) for which experienced golfers can obtain temporary membership.
For sandy beaches and a touch of glamour, Cannes (8km) is famous for its annual film festival when famous stars pose on the red carpet. Boulevard de la Croisette curves for a mile around the bay, lined with sandy beaches, luxurious hotels, glitzy bars and trendy boutiques. It’s easy to spot celebrities shopping in the Rue d’Antibes or relaxing on their vast yachts and fashionable private beaches.
There is still plenty of space for holidaymakers to lay their towels on one of the public beaches, try out some water sports or walk around the old port and Suquet, a Roman settlement above the city.  Boat trips can whisk you away from the city to the tranquillity and lovely beaches of the Lérins Islands or you can drive along the fabulous coast road towards the forested Cap d’Antibes peninsular between the stylish resort of Juan-Les-Pins and the ramparts and marina of Antibes, both 14km away.
There is so much to tempt you in the hinterland, away from the coast. The pretty town of Grasse (12km) is the unofficial perfume capital of the world – free tours are available at the famous perfume houses and there’s even a chance to create your own brand. It’s relaxing to just wander around the pretty streets and browse in the artisan shops and little boutiques.
The tiny hilltop village of Opio (11km) is where fragrant roses and jasmine are grown for the Grasse perfume industry. It also has a very large olive grove which produces delicious oil which can be purchased at the mill.
Valbonne (6km) is a lovely medieval town nestling within the lush greenery of a Mediterranean valley with an atmospheric market on a Friday morning. Its historic centre has been beautifully restored and it has grid designed streets. As you stroll past ochre stone houses and cascading bougainvillea, you are sure to stumble upon a little restaurant with tables in the street – just perfect for a light lunch and a sample of the speciality wine made from Servan grapes. At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
