Fabulously elevated on the hill-side, the appropriately named Lake Vista Cottage is a striking Edwardian property and a masterpiece of elegance and grandeur.
Built as a gentleman’s residence, the home retains many of its original features, including window seats, fireplaces and elaborate lighting, and is absolutely beautifully presented inside and out! The kitchen is delightful in its classic farmhouse style, with a traditional Aga, a large central island and flagstone-style flooring. The formal dining area is a perfectly grand setting, with an ornate chandelier above the polished table. There are three charming reception rooms, each equipped with plush soft furnishings or elegant leather sofas and bursting with light! Underfloor heating will keep you comfortable, a wine cooler will keep you content and the Xbox console should keep all ages entertained!
There are five sublime bedrooms in total, each one is fabulously filled with natural light and oozes style with warm, soft tones and rustic charm and all grant gorgeous countryside views. There are four double rooms and one twin room, two of which enjoy ensuite shower rooms with excellent double-rain-showers, and one delightful family bathroom with a huge free-standing bathtub. From the stunning Juliet balcony in the master suite you can enjoy breath-taking views across this sublime Lakeland scenery.
And finally, step out into your extensive garden with a vast terrace which stretches all the way from the house into the distance, surrounded by dazzling foliage. To the far end there is a quaint seating area, at which you can feel totally at one with the natural world, listening only to the birdsong and rustling leaves. In addition, you can enjoy your private tennis court, lawns and a second large patio area and ample area for off-road parking!
Despite you’re wonderfully rural location, you’re just a 15-minute stroll away from the bustling village of Windermere, with tons of restaurants, cafes and traditional country pubs. Also a 15 minute walk away is Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, at 10.5 miles long and 219 feet at its deepest point! The surrounding area abounds with hiking, cycling, water-sports, crazy golf, climbing, hot air ballooning, orienteering and even more incredible entertainment opportunities, so prepare for an unforgettable holiday in this most picturesque of destinations! Access to the lake is only a few minutes’ stroll away at Bowness Bay, where you can hire a boat or take a cruise with Windermere Lake Cruises which depart regularly to both Ambleside and Lakeside. Lake Vista Cottage is just two minutes away from Bowness-on-Windermere which offers an Information Centre with plenty of useful tips for visitors, as well as a vibrant hub of activity including restaurants, cafes and shops.
The town of Windermere is nestled just moments away, with its many quaint cafes, traditional pubs and fantastic restaurants to enjoy, as well as outdoors shops and large supermarkets for your convenience. It is a quaint and lively hub with plenty of local shops, a Booths supermarket and the flagship store for Lakeland.
Access to Windemere Lake is also only a few minutes’ stroll from the house at Bowness Bay, where you can hire a boat or take a cruise with Windermere Lake Cruises which depart regularly to both Ambleside and Lakeside.
Something of a mecca for cyclists, walkers and water-sports enthusiasts, the landscapes awaiting you have to be seen to be believed! Leave the car behind and lose yourself in the fresh air! For the true adventurers, unbeatable skiing, climbing and mountain-biking can be found throughout the Park, while more relaxing pursuits including boat hire and golf can be found a stone’s throw away.
Nearby attractions including the Lakes Aquarium, with the UK’s largest collection of freshwater fish, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, where you can enjoy a 3.5-mile steam locomotive trip into the Leven Valley and the delightful World of Beatrix Potter, where the fabulous animals of Beatrix Potter’s tales are brought to life in three dimensions! All make for a great day out for all ages and can easily be combined for those short on time thanks to their proximity.
The Lake District is England’s largest National Park, with more than 3100km of rights of way, you can walk, cycle and ride yourself silly through this enchanting valley as you marvel at some of the world’s best scenery! Adventure courses, boat hire, all kinds of water-sports and much more ensure you can take the Lakes at your own pace, be that racing down the mountains on a bike, fell-running up them or gliding through them on a Launch, the possibilities are endless!
Carlisle, Leeds and Newcastle airports are all within a 2-hour drive or thereabouts, and there are train stations dotted throughout the National Park, so accessing the house on public transport is certainly possible.
