Villas and apartments between a Roman city, the Amarone vineyards and the shores of Lake Garda
As featured in
Verona wears its history lightly. Its Roman amphitheatre, the Arena, still fills on summer nights with opera, as it has since 1913, and in February 2026 it hosted the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics. The whole city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, yet it is also a busy, prosperous place where the Veronese linger over a spritz in Piazza delle Erbe.
Our Verona collection runs to 100+ properties, and they go well beyond the city walls: villas with pools in the San Zeno and Valdonega neighbourhoods, apartments in old palazzi, houses among the vines of Valpolicella and homes with lake views on both shores of Lake Garda.
Here is how to choose between city, hills and lake, and when to come.

Villa Sancia Italy5 bedroomsThe city itself for the Arena and the old centre, Valpolicella for wine and quiet hills, and the eastern shore of Lake Garda, around Garda and Punta San Vigilio, for swimming and sailing.

Verona sits inside a loop of the River Adige, and the centre is easily walked. Piazza delle Erbe stands on the old Roman forum, the Torre dei Lamberti gives the best view over the rooftops, and Castelvecchio, the Scaliger fortress, holds a fine museum in rooms redesigned by Carlo Scarpa.
Staying in San Zeno puts you beside the Romanesque basilica, with its bronze doors and Mantegna altarpiece, and a short stroll from the centre. Valdonega, on the hillside above the river, is quieter and greener, with the Renaissance Giardino Giusti close by. Juliet's balcony draws the crowds. Its Shakespearean credentials are rather thinner than the queue suggests.

Just north west of the city, the valleys of Valpolicella fold up towards the Lessini mountains, covered with vineyards, cherry orchards and old stone villas. This is the home of Amarone, a rich red made from grapes left to dry for months before pressing, and of its sweet cousin, Recioto.
Villages such as Fumane, Negrar and San Giorgio, with its Romanesque parish church, make for slow, rewarding days of tastings and long lunches. A house here gives you peace and space, yet the Arena is close enough for a night at the opera.

Italy's largest lake begins around half an hour west of Verona. The eastern shore, followed by the Gardesana road, links Lazise, Bardolino and Garda, and the cypress-lined headland of Punta San Vigilio is one of the loveliest corners of the lake. From Malcesine a cable car climbs Monte Baldo, with walking and views over the whole lake.
To the south, Sirmione has its moated Scaliger castle and the Roman ruins known as the Grotte di Catullo. Across the water, the Valtenesi hills on the Brescia shore are quieter, with vineyards known for Chiaretto rosé.

Veronese cooking is generous and wintry at heart: risotto made with Amarone, bollito misto with pearà, a peppery bread sauce, and pandoro, the star-shaped Christmas cake that was born here. On the lake it turns lighter, with lake fish and good olive oil.
Spring and early autumn are the most pleasant times for walking the city and touring the vineyards, and harvest in Valpolicella comes in September. The opera festival runs from June to early September, when Verona is at its busiest and warmest. Our concierge can secure Arena seats, winery visits and boat days on the lake.

With 100+ properties in Verona, we can usually find the house that suits you rather than the one that happens to be free. You book with us directly, with no booking fees. Questions about access, parking, pool heating or how far it really is to the nearest beach go to people who can find out the answer.
Arena opera tickets, Amarone tastings in Valpolicella, boat hire on Lake Garda, a private chef, restaurant reservations and transfers from Verona airport. Our concierge team arranges all of it, leaving you free to decide which terrace to sit on.
Couples, families with small children, three generations together or a crowd of friends celebrating a birthday: we match the house to the group, down to the number of bathrooms and whether the pool is fenced.
San Zeno and Valdonega suit those who want to walk into the old city. Valpolicella is best for wine and quiet countryside, and the eastern shore of Lake Garda for swimming, sailing and lakeside towns, all within easy reach of the Arena.
April to June and September to October are the most comfortable for sightseeing and wine tasting. The Arena opera festival runs from June to early September, so summer is the time for opera, though the city is hot and busy.
The house in Via Cappello is medieval, but the balcony was added in the twentieth century and there is no evidence that Juliet ever lived there. It is worth a look, ideally early in the morning before the crowds arrive.
