Villas and sea-view apartments above the Bay of Naples, from Sorrento and Capri to Positano and Praiano
As featured in
Campania is where Italy is at its most theatrical. Vesuvius sits over the Bay of Naples, Pompeii and Herculaneum lie preserved where the eruption of AD 79 left them, and south of the bay the Sorrentine Peninsula ends in the Amalfi Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where whole villages are stacked up the cliffs above the sea. Out in the bay are Capri and Ischia, and at the heart of it all is Naples, loud, generous and the home of pizza.
Our Campania collection runs to 520+ properties. Most are around Sorrento and along the Amalfi Coast, from sea-view apartments with hot tubs in town to large villas with pools in the hills, the largest with 15 bedrooms. There are also houses on Capri and Ischia and apartments in Naples.
Here is how the region divides, and how to choose where to stay.

Sorrento sits on a cliff above the Bay of Naples, looking straight across at Vesuvius, and it is the most practical place to stay in Campania. The Circumvesuviana train runs to Pompeii and Naples, ferries and hydrofoils leave the harbour for Capri, and the Amalfi Coast is a short drive over the hills. The old town is all lemon groves, limoncello shops and evening strolls along Corso Italia.
West of town, Massa Lubrense is quieter and greener, with olive terraces running down to the sea and walks out to Punta Campanella and the Bay of Ieranto, facing Capri across a narrow strait.

Positano is the picture everyone has in mind: pastel houses tumbling down to a pebble beach, with boutiques and long lunches in between. Praiano, a few bends further east, has the same views with fewer crowds and some of the best sunsets on the coast. Beyond lie Amalfi itself, once a maritime republic, with its striped cathedral, and Ravello high above, where the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone host concerts each summer.
The Path of the Gods, from Bomerano down to Nocelle above Positano, is the finest walk on the coast. Be warned that the coast road is narrow and slow in summer, and the boat is often the better choice.

Capri is glamorous by day and lovely once the day-trippers leave: take the chairlift up Monte Solaro from Anacapri, swim beneath the Faraglioni, and visit the Blue Grotto early. Ischia is larger, greener and less polished, with thermal gardens, the fishing village of Sant'Angelo, and Forio, home to La Mortella, the garden created by Susana Walton.
Naples rewards anyone who gives it a few days. Its historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the National Archaeological Museum holds the finest treasures from Pompeii, and the Veiled Christ in the Sansevero Chapel stops most visitors in their tracks.

Campania eats very well. Neapolitan pizza is the real thing here, mozzarella di bufala comes from the plains south of Salerno, and the coast cooks scialatielli with seafood, finishing with delizia al limone and a glass of limoncello. In Naples, a sfogliatella with your morning coffee is close to compulsory.
May, June and September are the best months, warm enough for the sea and calm enough for walking. July and August are hot and busy, and many coastal restaurants close between November and March. Our concierge can arrange boat days to Capri, guided visits to Pompeii, restaurant tables and transfers.

Search by size, pool, location and price, or tell us what you have in mind and we will put together a shortlist.
