Situated in a beach resort on the north-eastern coast of Koh Samui, Villa Dabir makes a delightful base for your adventures around this exciting and beautiful island. Its location is convenient for both Samui Airport and the island’s famous Big Buddha shrine, around 10 minutes’ drive away.
Villa Dabir is a clean and modern property with an open-plan layout. It can accommodate up to three people. Those travelling in larger groups should be aware that there are several other properties of a similar type at the same resort. One of the highlights of this particular one is its decadent, open-air plunge pool, accompanied by a generously proportioned sun deck with day bed and sun lounger.
Step inside, and the beautifully appointed, the air-conditioned accommodation is immediately calming. The main area includes an attractive lounge space with carved wooden seating and wall-mounted TV, and a small table and chairs. A large double bed is found in the same space, with the sofa offering the sleeping space for a third guest if required.
A gorgeous bathroom with walk-through shower is just off the main area. Bathrobes are provided so you can really relax around the villa, which offers plenty of privacy and blackout curtains. The resort’s spa and fitness centre are also available to you. You have the use of various amenities at Villa Dabir, with a safe, minibar, telephone and complimentary Wi-Fi all provided. The resort also offers free tea and coffee service.
Koh Samui is an island full of places to see and things to do and is the largest island of around 80 in the Chumphon Archipelago. This gives it a wide range of restaurants and a strong nightlife scene, with plenty of cool bars and cabaret shows. Sea safaris, Jeep treks and golf, are among popular activities, while the landmark Big Buddha is a must-see. Along similar lines, Wat Chalong’s Secret Buddha Garden offers another way for visitors to learn about Buddhism – it’s a scenic journey of around one hour from the resort.The southern Thailand island of Koh Samui has everything you would want and expect – as the largest island of the Chumphon Archipelago, it’s a centre for luxury resorts, nature adventures, Buddhist iconography and lively nightlife. Whether it’s total relaxation or excitement you seek, Koh Samui doesn’t disappoint.
Numerous beautiful beaches are scattered around the island, reaffirming Koh Samui’s reputation as an island paradise. While some are visitor favourites and offer lots of sports and family-friendly activities, there are still many that are relatively undiscovered and are appreciably peaceful. Head to the southern and eastern coasts, and you’ll have the best chance of finding them.
Also on the east coast, but an exception to the rule, is the island’s largest town, Chaweng. It’s here that you will find Koh Samui’s most exuberant nightlife, with Soi Green Mango right at the heart of it all – although the Ark Bar beach club is snapping at this notorious strip’s heels as the town’s coolest nightspot. With DJs, food, cocktails and an amazing view, they seem to have everything covered.
Elsewhere, the island has a variety of sights to tempt you. A 12-metre high golden buddha surveys the scene to the north of Koh Samui, with a temple nearby featuring many more shrines. Natural wonders like the Namuang Waterfall, notable for the purple rocks it cascades down, are also worth a look. Not everything is quite so beautiful, though – the mummified remains of a monk who died more than 20 years ago have been placed in a glass case to the south of Lamai, for your enjoyment. It’s what he wanted, apparently.
While shopping in local street markets and dining at some excellent Thai restaurants is always a possibility, Koh Samui offers all sorts of other activities. Controversial but still popular, elephant trekking is big, but you have plenty of options. The Sky Fox treetop cable ride and go-karting provide their own sense of exhilaration, while snorkelling trips to the unfeasibly beautiful Koh Tao (or Turtle Island) are sure to be unforgettable.At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
