Apartments and townhouses on quiet garden squares, a short walk from Kensington and the great museums
As featured in
Earl's Court has always been a place where people arrive. In the sixties and seventies so many young Australians lodged here that it was nicknamed Kangaroo Valley. Before her marriage, Lady Diana Spencer shared a flat in Coleherne Court, and Freddie Mercury spent his last years at Garden Lodge on Logan Place. Today the tall Victorian terraces and garden squares feel settled and residential, and Kensington, Chelsea and South Kensington are all close by.
Our Earl's Court collection runs to 48 homes. Most are apartments in converted period houses, along with a handful of townhouses, and some have gardens, balconies, air conditioning or private parking, which is not easy to find in this part of London.
Here is a guide to the neighbourhood, its corners and its neighbours.

Away from the traffic of Earls Court Road and Cromwell Road, the neighbourhood is a grid of quiet streets lined with white stucco and red brick. Squares such as Nevern Square and Earl's Court Square have gardens at their centre, and it is around them that you find the area's most attractive period conversions.
Outside the station stands a blue police box, a modern replica that Doctor Who fans make pilgrimages to. The old exhibition centre, which opened in 1937 and hosted everything from motor shows to Pink Floyd, has been demolished, and its site is being slowly reborn as a new quarter with a park at its heart.

Brompton Cemetery is one of London's Magnificent Seven Victorian cemeteries, run today by the Royal Parks. It makes a remarkably peaceful walk, with a long avenue of tombs, catacombs and a domed chapel. Beatrix Potter, who grew up nearby, is said to have borrowed names from its headstones. Stamford Bridge stands at its southern end.
On Old Brompton Road, the Troubadour has been a coffee house and music venue since 1954. Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Adele have all played there, and it still has live music downstairs and a garden for a long Sunday lunch.
Explore Chelsea

The Natural History Museum, the V&A and the Science Museum are around twenty-five minutes' walk away in South Kensington, or two stops on the Tube. All three are free, which makes them easy to visit in short bursts with children.
Walk north and Kensington High Street leads to Holland Park, with its peacocks and the Kyoto Garden, and on to Kensington Gardens. The Royal Albert Hall is close enough for an evening concert without a long journey home.
