Apartments in Soho, Covent Garden and Fitzrovia, a short walk from the curtain going up
As featured in
The West End is the part of London that never quite goes to bed. In a square mile or so you have around forty theatres, the Royal Opera House, the National Gallery, Chinatown, the jazz of Frith Street and more restaurants than anyone could get through in a year. Staying here means walking home after the show rather than queueing for a cab.
Our West End collection runs to 46 apartments, mostly one and two bedroom flats tucked above the streets of Soho, Covent Garden and Fitzrovia, with a few larger apartments and townhouses for families. Some have terraces or patios, and a handful come with private parking, which in this part of London is rarer than a good table on a Saturday.
Here is how the neighbourhoods differ, and when to come.

Soho has kept its character through several centuries of reinvention. Bar Italia still pours coffee on Frith Street, Ronnie Scott's has hosted jazz a few doors along since the 1960s, and Carnaby Street and the mock-Tudor Liberty store sit on its western edge.
Cross Shaftesbury Avenue and you are in Chinatown, where Gerrard Street's lanterns hang over bakeries, dim sum rooms and roast duck in the windows. Lunar New Year, in January or February, brings lion dances to the streets. An apartment here suits those who like to step out of the door straight into a good dinner.

Covent Garden grew up around the piazza Inigo Jones laid out in the 1630s, and the old market halls now hold shops, street performers and the London Transport Museum, a reliable hit with children. The Royal Opera House fills one side, and the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane is a few minutes away.
To the north, seven streets meet at the sundial pillar of Seven Dials, with independent shops, Neal's Yard and its painted courtyard, and Denmark Street, once London's Tin Pan Alley and still lined with guitar shops.

North of Oxford Street, Fitzrovia is calmer and more residential, with Georgian terraces, small galleries and the restaurants of Charlotte Street. It was the haunt of writers and artists in the twentieth century, and the British Museum is a short stroll east in Bloomsbury.
Tottenham Court Road station, on the Elizabeth line, makes this corner especially practical: Heathrow is a direct ride away, and the City and Canary Wharf are within minutes for anyone mixing business with the theatre.

The West End has no off season. Shows run all year, and The Mousetrap has played at St Martin's Theatre since 1974, having opened in 1952. Spring and early autumn are the most comfortable months for walking, the free West End Live in Trafalgar Square usually takes place in June, and from November the Christmas lights go up along Regent Street and Oxford Street.
Eat early before a show or late after it: Soho and Covent Garden are full of places that cater for both. Our concierge can secure theatre and opera tickets, book restaurant tables and arrange transfers from the airport or St Pancras.
