Cartier Queen’s Cup Final At Guards Polo Club
On one of the hottest days this year, the scene was set for the prestigious Cartier Queen’s Cup Final at Guards Polo Club, pitting rivals RH Polo and La Indiana against each other in a thrilling match conclusion.
Champagne, pimms and sunshine aplenty, this highly anticipated event attracted the crème de la crème of British society, royalty and big-name players to cement its reputation as one of the top five Polo tournaments in the world and, this year, it didn’t disappoint.
In the presence of Her Majesty The Queen and Prince Philip, Adolfo Cambioso – the world’s number one player – lead his team to victory in the exciting closing moments of the final chukka, winning RH Polo the Cup and notching his 10th Queen’s Cup victory.
RH Polo’s Tommy Beresford was awarded the Cartier Most Valuable Player, whilst Cambioso accepted the Cartier Best Playing Pony award for Caraquenia, a graceful chestnut mare.
With a relaxed feel to protocol, players were able to converse with Queen Elizabeth when going up to accept their awards (courtesy of the event’s longstanding sponsor, Cartier) and the overall atmosphere was one of heritage and quintessential Britishness. A gem in the Polo calendar, this event will always be the one to watch.
