Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous
The Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous brings together sail and motor yachts during a four-day event for owners, their families and friends organized by Boat International Media and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS).
Sailing yacht owners will experience three days of racing in the prime sailing conditions of the BVI, expertly organized by the international race committee at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda under the International Superyacht Rule rating system. There will be a fleet start for the racing division and a pursuit start for the cruising division. Divisions and classes may be adapted to accommodate the diversity of the fleet.
Motor yacht owners are invited to follow the racing and enjoy the spectacle of the sailing fleet. A daytime program encouraging owners and guests to use their yachts and toys to the maximum for on-the-water entertainment includes a wide range of activities.
The shore-based social program and activities include a Welcome Cocktail on the prestigious YCCS Lawn, an exclusive Owners’ Dinner in the YCCS Clubhouse, a fabulous evening at Oil Nut Bay Beach Club, a fun-filled crew party and the opportunity to book spa and beauty treatments and visits to some of the nearby island’s most charming scenic spots and attractions.
The British Virgin Islands comprised more than 25 beautiful jewels set amid the sheltered, turquoise waters of the central Caribbean Sea. Located in the northeast Caribbean, 60 miles east of Puerto Rico, the BVI stretch more than 30 miles along the Sir Francis Drake Channel. All year long, you can enjoy short hops from one blissful anchorage to another with easy line-of-sight cruising. Wintertime brings comfortable trade winds of 15-20 knots in with temperatures averaging between 75°F and 88°F.
The third largest island of the BVI, Virgin Gorda measures just eight and a half square miles. In addition to the sheer beauty of the island, travellers are drawn to Virgin Gorda for its quiet coves, safe anchorages, and luxury resorts.
For more than 40 years, the YCCS has been one of the leading Yacht Clubs in the Mediterranean. Following the expressed wishes of the Club’s Members for access to quality facilities and services on both sides of the Atlantic, YCCS decided to expand. The new location, on a private peninsula on the eastern tip of Virgin Gorda in the protected waters of North Sound, was chosen based on a number of key attributes including the beautiful location, with beaches, protected anchorages and marinas; its accessibility by air and sea; the security and stability of the British Virgin Islands and finally, the region’s renowned sailing waters.
This second YCCS base enables the international sailing and yachting community to enjoy the YCCS’ expertise in the organization of top-level international sailing events and exclusive hospitality services. Amenities at YCCS Virgin Gorda include the Clubhouse, several docks, a marina, as well as a restaurant, a pool, outdoor recreation areas, bars and concierge service for yachtsmen. The Club and marina, developed in partnership with Victor International, is linked to the new Oil Nut Bay Luxury Resort Community and Beach Club, as well as Biras Creek Resort, a Relais and Chateaux property.
The YCCS Virgin Gorda development includes a state of the art marina, designed by ATM and built by Bellingham Marine. The marina offers up to 38 slips for yachts up to 100 meters in length. The Club and marina have easy access to the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, as well as the islands and anchorages of the Virgin Islands and the Leeward and Windward Isles.
